About the Course
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically valid and systematic approach to behavior change that examines the variables that reliably influence socially important behaviors. It is best known as a treatment for Autism and other related Disorders. Applied Behavior Analysis is one of the fastest-growing professional areas in Psychology.
This course will explore numerous important concepts, real life applications of behavior modification principles and learning theories. Participants will not only develop an understanding of the basic principles and procedures of behavior modification and analysis but also participate in hands on training skills, such as observing and recording instances of a behavior, utilization of behavior modification strategies, and interpreting behavior in terms of learning and behavioral principles. This course will help the participants to develop the ability to apply all these behavioral and learning concepts into real life situations.
About the Instructor
Dr. Iqbal is a passionate and skilled USA Certified School Psychologist with years of teaching and field experience in the areas of Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Applied Psychology, Psychometry and School Psychology. Dr. Iqbal received her MS. in Psychometry as well as her PhD in School Psychology with a specialization in Special Education from Mississippi State University. She has a diverse teaching and field experience portfolio with more than eight years of working experience at the educational institutes in Oklahoma and New York. Some of her field experiences include working as a Behavior Specialist, Psychometrist, ABA Therapist at the Mississippi State University School Psychology Clinic for kids with special needs. In addition to this, she has been managing a camp for Adolescents with Autism. With this 6-weeks ABA course at NIU, Dr. Iqbal hopes to bring the skills &knowledge to her prospective students that motivated her in the first place to seek a degree in this field.
