NIU Applied Psychology Department is offering a 2-year Master’s program in Clinical Psychology two graduation programs of 43 credit hours over 04 consecutive semesters. One year MS option is offered to those who have completed Advanced diploma in Clinical Psychology previously.

NIU is offering its MS Clinical Psychology as a weekend program. This has specially been designed and offered for professionals in the field of psychology who wish to upgrade their degree as well as enhance their knowledge with the latest developments and training opportunities in the clinical field.

The purpose of this program is to provide intensive professional training in clinical skills that include assessment, diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and research. The major focus of this program is to develop trained clinical psychologists in line with national as well as international standards so that they can meet the demands of the continuously growing and changing Health Sector. After the successful completion of the MS program, students will be eligible to apply for PhD as well as work as Clinical Psychologists in both government and private sector hospitals, organizations, educational institutions, NGOs, special education institutes, counseling and rehabilitation centers. They will be equipped to provide consultation to agencies and communities, provide training and carry out research-based practice.

Yes, we offer 5 specialization in our MS Clinical Psychology Program. Our Neuropsychology specialization is led by Dr. Najma Najam, the leading expert in Pakistan on neurocognitive assessment. We are also offering first time specialization in Family Therapy led by foreign qualified Marriage and Family Therapists. Three other specializations are Health Psychology, Special Education and Positive Psychotherapy.

Yes, internships and trainings are mandatory in the curriculum of Clinical Psychology MS program. We place our students in various institutions for training such as FMH, Fountain House, Mayo Hospital,  Punjab Institute of Mental health and Rehabilitation Centers.

For those specializing in specific areas such as Family Therapy or Neuropsychology, we provide placements in related institutions through our extensive contacts and networks. Psychology Professor Dr. Naumana Amjad is an honorary consultant and trainer for Punjab Rescue Services and Punjab Anti-narcotics Force.   • Display a thorough knowledge of main classification systems (Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Psychiatric Disorder) and apply the knowledge to differentiate between different psychological disorders
