Program Description
The one-year Addiction Studies Diploma program will provide students with comprehensive knowledge and preparation for a career in the addiction field. This program prepares learners to integrate theory and practical skills to work with individuals, families, groups, and communities. In addition to foundational skills, learners reflect on their beliefs and values to develop relevant professional skills to work with a diverse clientele including multicultural and Indigenous populations.

Post Magisterial Diploma in Addiction Sciences (PGDAS) aims to strengthen the field of addiction science and improve the lives of those touched by addiction which integrates all disciplines and professions toward a common goal of saving millions of lives and helping thousands of communities affected by addiction.
Further, To develop an optimum standard of clinical practice in Addiction Sciences, and professional training in addiction sciences and broadening its scope by embedding its application in other related disciplines. Furthermore, By providing an infrastructure to support synergy and collaboration, the mission of PGDAS is to generate high-impact research, education, and service programs that measurably advance the science, prevention, and treatment of addiction.
Objectives
The Institute of Clinical Psychology is already being recognized as one of the premier institutions in Pakistan, where Professional training and services of international standard in the field of clinical psychology are offered. The Institute of Clinical Psychology, University of Karachi aims to achieve the following objectives:
- To expand the growth and strengthen the status of Addiction Science as a professional to impart specialized training in the field.
- To promote research suited to rehabilitation and other related areas.
- To bridge the highly disproportionate gap between “demand” and “supply”
- To stop the draining out of talent; it is expected that students aspiring to be addiction Science professional will avail these training facilities provided within the country in an environment which teaches them to do clinical practice in a culturally appropriate way.

Faculty: Basic Sciences
Total Credit Hours: 128 (24 Teaching Credit hours/104 (312) Credit hrs training training/Internship). (Note 1 internship hour is equal to 3 training hours)
- 12 Months Program of studies, course work, supervised internship and research.
- Facilitation in International Certification from Addiction Science Institutions.

Eligibility Criteria:
MBBS with House Job or M.A/MSc (Minimum 2nd Division) In Any Discipline of Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Nursing and related fields from Recognized University by the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan
Training; Three full months in Summer Semester
Total Fee: 110,0000
Internship Fee: 15000 (5000+5000+5000 for three months per student)
Total=125,000
Training place: 3 months (312) Credit hours training at PFRD
Training will be given according to the approved credential criteria of: 1.International Consortium of Universities for Drug Demand Reduction (ICUDDR)
