Overview

The Department of Physical Therapy of the university has been serving in both clinical and academic fields since 2016. The program educates practitioners to meet the challenges of a dynamic healthcare environment and supports scholarly activities that bridge science and clinical practice. Physical therapy curriculum includes theoretical, practical, clinical and research courses to prepare graduates, functioning in a variety of settings in the field of physical therapy.

The Department of Physical Therapy is also well known for its high standards and excellent faculty. Our evidence-based curriculum is structured to:

  • Develop problem solving skills
  • Promote teamwork and collaboration
  • Empower students to be lifelong learners

In addition, student participation and feedback in regard to the program is encouraged. Close collaboration with the clinical community (FMHCMD) ensures that students are able to access high quality clinical fieldwork. Our Department is playing a very important role in human healthcare as we are treating patients without any discrimination. The Department of Physical Therapy at NIU at present having the following Physical Therapy well developed and functional laboratories:

  • Kinesiology
  • Neuro-physical therapy
  • Musculoskeletal
