In April, 2021 Ms. Samreen Masud joined Nur International University as a Lecturer at the Applied Psychology Department. Soon after, she was given the additional charge of Clinical Psychologist/Counselor at the Nur Center for Wellbeing. Prior to this, Ms. Samreen has taught as a visiting lecturer at the University of Lahore for two years.

As a Clinical Psychologist, Ms. Samreen has an experience of over six years in her relevant field. She has worked in multiple health care facilities such as Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, Shalimar Hospital Burn Center and Children’s Reconstructive Surgery and Research Center, Willing Ways and Sadaqat Clinic, before coming into the field of teaching in 2018.

In the first year of the pandemic of Covid-19, Ms. Samreen became a part of a free online counseling service, launched by the Door of Awareness NGO in June 2020, which helped people battle with the new changes in their lives due to the pandemic and cope with the mental health issues arising as a result of this change.

Currently Ms. Samreen is practicing as a counselor at the Nur Center for Wellbeing which was launched in December 2020 at Nur International University for the sole purpose of working for the welfare of the students, faculty and staff of the institution as well as for the community at large. Ms Samreen also organizes weekly webinars on the university’s online social media portals from the platform of the Wellbeing Center.

She is a member of the Pakistan Psychological Association (PPA) and the British Psychological Society (GMBPsS). She was also granted the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) by the British Psychological Society.

Ms. Samreen is certified in Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Hypnotherapy and Handwriting Analysis. She has also conducted workshops and seminars on MBSR and Addiction: Causes and Management.

Ms. Samreen has conducted researches on the following topics:

• Statistical Analysis of Acute Burn Patients in Lahore
• Evaluation of Psychotherapy Practice in Pakistan
• Social Adjustment in Young Cancer Survivors

She presented her paper on the Evaluation of Psychotherapy Practice in Pakistan – A Qualitative Exploration in the 1^st International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities in 2018 and her paper got published in the Journal of Research and Reviews in Social Sciences in Pakistan in 2019.

She also presented a paper at the World Psychiatric Association Thematic Congress 2022 on “The Presenting Complaints of Student Population and Underlying Dynamics: Learning from Nur Center for Wellbeing.

Currently Ms. Samreen is also working again with Door of Awareness for the training of teachers and, student and parent counseling at the underprivileged schools run by the NGO.
