NUR International University Faculty member got selected for Nobel Laureate Meetings 2020


Dr. Aribah Aslam, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, NIU has been selected by scientific review panelof the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings for participation in the 7th Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences in April, 2020. The interaction with Nobel laureates is a joint venture of the HEC, PIEAS and the Council for Nobel Laureate Meetings. The main event will take place 24 to 28 August 2021 in Germany. For this year as well, she will participate in Lindau Nobel Laureate Online Science Days, taking place from 28 June to 1 July 2020 as well as the Online Sciathon 2020 from 18 to 21 June. These activities will be designed for interactive participation by accepted young economists, young scientists as well as Lindau Alumni. Nobel Laureates and laureates from the field of economics will also be participating and the topics addressed will be from both the economics and natural sciences disciplines.  Dr. Aribah Aslam was selected as one of 373 young economists from countries all around the world. Applications were received by HEC last year, who had first class academic career and she secured position in first four candidates from Pakistan.

Dr. Aribah Aslam has two Gold Medals in M.Phil. and PhD in Economics. She earned her Ph.D. at a very young age of 27 years only. Along with that, she has won several other certificates and academic excellence awards. She has more than Ten International and HEC Recognized Publications on her name. Currently, she is serving in Department of Economics at NUR International University.

“This achievement may have my name on it, but in truth it belongs to everybody who has worked with me to make the center a reality. It is the Grace of Allah, the Almighty, and not the unpresuming me that I was selected for Nobel Laureate Meeting among 300 candidates in Pakistan which had first class first academic career. I am, indeed, at loss of words to enumerate the appreciation from Worthy VC Madam Dr. Prof. Rakhshanda Rehman (NUR International University) and also giving me the right kind of working environment to grow.  A sapling never grows to be a tree without sunshine; Thanks to my all respected teachers, my Parents, friends and colleagues at NIU. Your generous gifts of time, expertise and timely guidance beyond your duty will always be deeply appreciated by me. I am also thankful to my students as the have always been the real motivation for becoming role model for many. May God bless you all.”

Dr. Aribah Aslam’s research paper titled “The hotly debate of human capital and economic growth: why institutions may matter?” has been published in one of the most reputed journals of in social sciences “Quality & Quantity” by Springer with impact factor 1.072. She is currently serving in Department of Economics at NIU.
