In commemoration of March, 2018 as Nutrition Month, Department of Clinical Nutrition, NUR International University (NIU) in collaboration with NUR-FMS School of Nutrition, One day Seminar on “Nutrition Awareness with Special Reference to Food Safety” was organized on 27th March, 2018 at FMH auditorium. Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi was the Chief Guest. Vice Chancellor NIU Prof. Dr. Rakhshanda Rehman was the Guest of Honor. Dr. M. Aslam Shaheen, Chief of Nutrition, Planning & Commission, Ministry of Planning & Reforms, Islamabad shared the current Govt. Regulations and plans with future vision regarding special emphasis on Community Nutrition. Prof. Dr. Tahir Zahoor, Director General, National Institute of Food Science & Technology, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad shared his views regarding Safe Healthy Food consumption to get maximum Nutritional Benefits. Dr. Farhat Jameel, Coperate Manage, Regulatory & Scientific Affairs, Nestle-Pakistan addresses the role and share of Nestle Pakistan towards Nutrition Uplift in order to provide Health & Wellness. Dr. Uzma Bukhari from UNICEF-Pakistan discussed the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with special reference to Food Safety and Nutrition. Miss Rabia Rehman shared the role of World Food Program (WFP) in providing Safe, Wholesome and Nutritious Food. Overall, the galaxy of Food Scientists, Nutritionists and Clinicians provided recent updates and potential of Food & Nutrition to students, academicians and faculty members. Shields were given to guests at the end by Vice Chancellor. Followed by visit to stalls where students displayed their projects, Nutraceutical Foods and also appreciated the efforts of Clinical Nutritionists. The proceedings ended with the vote of thanks from Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr.Rakshanda Rehman and HoD Clinical Nutrition and Dean Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Nighat Bhatty.
